What an incredible evening with the International Wine and Food Society of Paradise Valley at the Old-World vs. New-World Wine Pairing event held at Paul Martin’s American Grill! A huge thank you to Ross Ryden & team and our fabulous “wine fairy,” Hailey, for making it such a memorable experience.
A special congratulations to Cheryl Peters on receiving the prestigious IWFS Silver Medal for her unwavering dedication to our group as one of the founding members 20 years ago and for serving as our branch secretary. Well-deserved!
The evening began with a refreshing glass of Prosecco, enjoyed outdoors under the Arizona sunshine and cozy heaters, before moving into a truly outstanding dinner. Here’s what we savored:
1st Course:
Kale & Dates Salad – Kale, champagne vinaigrette, dates, almonds, parmesan, and apples.
Wine Pairing: 2021 Simonnet Febvre Chablis (Old World) vs. 2021 Prisoner Chardonnay (New World).
2nd Course:
Charcuterie Board – A selection of artisanal cheeses and assorted meats.
Wine Pairing: 2021 Prosper Maufoux Bourgogne Pinot Noir (Old World) vs. 2020 Browne Family Vineyard Pinot Noir (New World).
3rd Course:
Entrée: Skirt steak with maple-glazed sweet potatoes and arugula.
Wine Pairing: 2016 Chateau Valentin Haut-Médoc (Old World) vs. 2022 Faust Cabernet Sauvignon (New World).
Cheers to great food, amazing wines, and even better company!
